Mission
COR's Promote Columbia Initiative helps attract and retain talent in the Columbia area by showcasing Columbia to professionals and college students as a thriving venue for career development and entertainment.
Goals
- Develop a program aimed at recruiting and retaining talent in Columbia.
- Plan and participate in activities that raise current Columbians' perception of the city as well as attracting new talent to our city.
- Lead and partner with exisiting campaigns in the city to celebrate what Columbia has to offer.
- Assist young professionals to get connected in all that Columbia has to offer.
Ongoing Projects
- Columbia Talent Magnet Project (CTMP) - The Columbia Talent Magnet Project was created to find ways to appeal to and keep today's "Creative Class" in Columbia. The Project is a collaboration among EngenuitySC, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau, New Carolina - SC's Council on Competitiveness, and Columbia Opportunity Resource (COR). - Stop the Brain Drain - Stop the Brain Drain is a COR led campaign focusing on attracting and retaining talent in Columbia. COR is well positioned in the community to receive job announcements before made available to the public as well as promote internship opportunities between local businesses and universities. COR members have the opportunity to receive the inside scoop on these opportunities as well as have their resumes distributed to local strategic partners. - Arts & Culture - No one can ever say that there's nothing going on in Columbia! COR has developed strategic partnerships with a number of arts organizations and will be offering opportunities to check out the cultural scene with some of your fellow young profs.
