Mission

COR's Policy & Issues Initiative creates an objective environment to discuss and put into practice ideas on local civic, economic and social affairs.

Goals

  1. Affect change by educating and informing members to be involved in policy issues.
  2. Affect change by developing consensus.
  3. Affect change by providing opportunities for COR members to be involved in policy decisions.

Get Involved/Initiative Meetings

COR represent the interests of the members we serve through public education and public policy advocacy, as well as by encouraging members and constituents to participate in the public affairs of the community. While we do not support individual candidates for office, we do host debates and forums. Ongoing Projects

  • Good to Great Issues Debates - The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce has identified several burning issues that need immediate attention in the city of Columbia, and Policy and Issues will highlight four of them throughout the year with debates and open forums. Education, Race Relations, Economic Development, and Intergovernmental Cooperation will be at the forefront of these discussions as COR brings interested and relevant organizations together to open these dialogues.
  • Rock the Vote! - Political season is here, and COR is committed to not only registering new voters, but encouraging others to get out and vote! Pledge to pick the next prez and pay attention to local elections.
