While working toward my master’s degree, I have been employed as a Business Solutions graduate intern in the Small Business Ombudsman’s office within the South Carolina Department of Commerce. On a daily basis I worked with statewide partners to develop legislation, programs, events, and services to help entrepreneurs and small business owners become successful in an increasingly competitive environment.
I have a strong academic background in business administration, political science, public policy and American government.
I also have experience as a legislative intern. I spent a semester in Washington, D.C. attending The American University’s Washington Semester. I worked as an intern for United States Senator Lindsey Graham.
I'm currently working with New Carolina, South Carolina's Council on Competitiveness. New Carolina is a public-private partnership working to increase South Carolina’s economic competitiveness through a cluster development strategy. I have an interest in economic development initiatives that will increase prosperity for all South Carolinians. As a Presbyterian College graduate, I have been asked to sit on the board of the Columbia, SC Chapter of the Young Alumni Council.
I'm also working with Columbia's Opportunity Resource on the Stop the Brain Drain initiative. Stop the Brain Drain is a COR led campaign focusing on attracting and retaining talent in Columbia. COR is well positioned in the community to receive job announcements before made available to the public as well as promote internship opportunities between local businesses and universities. COR members have the opportunity to receive the inside scoop on these opportunities as well as have their resumes distributed to local strategic partners.
A professional goal of mine is to change the environment through connecting the right individuals with the right resources. As a South Carolina native, I look forward to being part of plans to help move South Carolina forward.
